The Holy Well and Prayer Tree brings together a selection of sites from around Ireland where devotion continues to gather quietly. Beside these holy wells, items are often left behind—rags tied to trees, small pieces of cloth or fabric placed as prayers of hope and petition. Many of these wells are associated with particular illnesses or needs. These photographs attend to the ongoing devotion of these sites, where faith is practiced and passed on.
